Mommy Makeover

Restore Your Pre-Baby Body with a Mommy Makeover in Mandeville, LA

Pregnancy and childbirth can dramatically alter a woman’s body. Diet and exercise are difficult to fit into a schedule of nursing and caring for a newborn, especially for working mothers. A mommy makeover can help you regain your pre-baby confidence and get back into shape.

What’s Involved in a Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover isn’t a specific surgical procedure. Rather, it is a combination of different cosmetic treatments tailored to the goals and priorities of each patient, addressing the key areas affected by pregnancy. The combination of procedures can include:

Volume Lost in Breasts

After childbirth and nursing, many women find that their breasts no longer have the same shape and size. Breasts swell during pregnancy, but they shrink back over time, often smaller than their original size. Breast augmentation is a quick and simple surgery that takes less than an hour on its own. It only takes a weekend to recover from the surgery. A breast lift (also called a mastopexy) adds a little bit more surgical time, but it can restore perkiness and raise the nipples. These procedures can be included in your mommy makeover if the breasts are an area of concern for you.

Pooch in the Stomach

Extra skin in the stomach area can be difficult to address with exercise alone. After pregnancy, the skin has been stretched, and abdominal muscles are also further apart. A tummy tuck will tighten loose skin, and liposuction is generally the best way to remove stubborn fat deposits.

Vaginal Rejuvenation

Many new mothers are self-conscious about the way that childbirth has affected their bodies. Vaginal rejuvenation is performed using a laser procedure, CO2RE Intima Laser, which includes tightening of the labia, tightening of the vaginal canal, restoration of the vaginal mucosa, and other corrective measures. The clitoral holding can be adjusted, and external skin can be lightened. Vaginal rejuvenation can also help women who have developed a urinary leakage problem since pregnancy.

What About Stretch Marks?

The best way to remove stretch marks is during a tummy tuck. It may be possible to remove marks around lower abdomen, but some scars in other areas may be out of reach for the tummy tuck to fix. Talk to Dr. Kinsley about the marks you want to address in your consultation.

How Safe is a Mommy Makeover?

The risks associated with a mommy makeover depend on the procedures selected. Any cosmetic surgery comes with certain risks, and Dr. Kinsley will be happy to explain the risks associated with any of your options during your consultation.

Can You Still Have Babies After A Mommy Makeover?

Absolutely! None of the procedures included in a mommy makeover will prevent you from getting pregnant again. If you plan to have more children, you should consider waiting to get the mommy makeover until after you intend to stop having more children for best long-term results. Liposuction, for example, will not keep you from gaining weight during your next pregnancy.

Procedure Process

A mommy makeover is performed as an outpatient procedure. First, you will meet Dr. Kinsley and the staff in her office for a consultation to discuss preferences and learn more about the possible results. The mommy makeover surgery takes about three to four hours. The procedure can take less or more time depending on which areas you would like to address and how many procedures are being performed.

Will I Have Scars?

Because a tummy tuck involves the removal of sections of skin, it usually results in scars hidden near the bikini line. In order to reduce the size of the scar, some women prefer to have a mini tummy tuck. However, the mini tummy tuck can only achieve a limited version of the results possible with a full tummy tuck.

With the breast augmentation, Dr. Kinsley uses the newest technology to make smaller, more inconspicuous incision sites, even for silicone implants. Once healed, you can wear a bathing suit or sleeveless top without a visible scar.

How to Prepare for Mommy Makeover

Before you talk with a surgeon about a mommy makeover, you should be within 10 or 15 pounds of your pre-pregnancy weight. The body also needs time to recover from childbirth, so mothers are asked to wait at least six months before getting a mommy makeover.

Mommy Makeover Recovery

The length of recovery time depends on the procedures included in a mommy makeover. After breast augmentation, only a couple of days are needed for recovery. After a full tummy tuck, two weeks may be needed before the patient can return to light work. Full recovery takes six to eight weeks, and then a patient can return to her daily routine and even exercise as normal.
