Cellfina Cellulite Treatment

Cellfina Cellulite Treatment for Covington, Mandeville, and New Orleans Patients

At some point in their lives, 90 percent of women will be affected by cellulite. It can be a problem for women of any age, even for those who exercise regularly. Diet can play a role, but it is not enough to prevent the appearance of cellulite. Myths and misunderstandings about cellulite are common, but fortunately, there’s a new treatment option that provides fast and long-lasting results. Elizabeth A. Kinsley, MD, is offering a treatment called Cellfina that is clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite.

About Cellulite and Cellfina

Cellfina is a new, FDA-approved cellulite removal procedure that addresses the problem at its root cause. It is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure lasting for an average of 45 minutes and based on a modern understanding of the way cellulite develops. In the thighs and glutes, there are tough bands of collagen that keep natural body fat in place. As a support structure that provides stability for the dermis, or skin, collagen is inelastic and unable to stretch. Skin elasticity is affected by the process of aging, weight fluctuation, sun exposure, smoking, and other factors. Loss of elasticity causes skin to sag around the collagen bands, causing the appearance of dimples or bumps on the surface.

Treatment and Benefits

Unlike other forms of cellulite treatment, Cellfina does not involve any cutting or anesthesia. Instead, a needle-sized device is used to treat the collagen bands beneath the skin by relieving the tension that causes the uneven surface. This one-time, minimally invasive treatment is very well tolerated in the vast majority of patients. Results have been shown to last for at least two years—the longest duration of any FDA-approved cellulite removal procedure. Results are typically visible within three days. Alternative treatments like filler injections do not last as long, and they may require several rounds of treatment.

Side Effects

Because the procedure is minimally invasive, requiring no anesthesia, the downtime and side effects are minimized. The most common side effects include soreness, tenderness, and bruising of the skin. Sensitivity to touch in the treated area is minimal after three days. Over 90 percent of patients have reported that any bruising was gone within a month.
