Give Yourself the Gift of a Brow Lift
Over the years, our reflection in the mirror can change significantly—especially our faces. The elasticity of our facial skin weakens over time, leading to a sagging appearance and lowered eyebrows or eyelids. These issues can make expressions appear more tired or angry, which may create a less approachable appearance. A brow lift can tighten the skin in this area and help achieve a more refreshed look.
What Is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift, or forehead lift, is a cosmetic procedure that helps rejuvenate the area of the face above the eyes. During the procedure, extra skin will be removed to help achieve a firmer, youthful result.
Benefits of a Brow Lift
Heavy, drooping brows are natural but can be corrected if you’re unsatisfied with the look. After a brow lift procedure, many patients may experience the following:
- A more alert and approachable overall appearance
- Heightened self-confidence
- Brighter, more lively looking eyes
Are You a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?
Have you noticed that your facial expressions aren’t conveying your emotions properly, or that a sagging, heavy brow is making you appear more tired than you feel? A brow lift could be the solution you need to help enhance the appearance of your brow line.
Brow Lift Preparation, Procedure, and Recovery
A brow lift is an outpatient procedure done under general anesthesia or monitored sedation. The incisions are usually made behind the hairline; however, for patients with high foreheads, the incisions can be placed in front of the hairline. The operation is performed using an endoscope (a narrow hollow instrument with a fiber optic light source and camera, through which the procedure is done with small special instruments.) The forehead skin is lifted and repositioned. The muscles that cause frown lines are weakened.
After surgery, the patient goes home with their head wrapped in dressings, which are usually removed on the first or second day after surgery. Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication. Sutures or staples are removed within 10 days and most swelling and bruising are gone in seven to 10 days.
The specific risks and the suitability of the forehead lift procedure for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are unusual.
